First graders are NOT afraid of our snake.
Students were introduced to the book Billibonk and the Big Itch as well as the PETS (Primary Education Thinking Skills) for higher level thinking. They had to play detectives to figure out the mysteries and lots of discussion took place between them. Last week they worked on Venn Perplexors to help them better understand relationships between sets.

Second Graders continued their talk about bio mimicry, which led into the discussion about tunnels. After reading the book
The Great Fuzz Frenzy, the students played a game called Meet in the Middle.

3rd Graders
We spent the day doing fun things. First we did more algebra problems like
3 more than six times a number is 15. We had to write down the problem, figure out what the equation would look like, and then solve. We went to the computer lab to finish our Scratch projects and design a Kahoot quiz about all that we have learned in 3rd grade G/T, so far. We read some of our chapter book, and worked on a Prezi presentation about the brain and did some fun centers related to the Prezi.

Not related to G/T but I saw this in the assembly today and it touched me deeply.

4th grade
Today was
National Coding Day! We started the day by going to the computer
lab and showing students from around the school how to code! We came back and did algebra, which is getting harder and harder. We read some more of Chasing Vermeer and shared our extra credit project, which was to design a book like DaVinvi would design. We had some lab activities related to physics, such as catching quarters, super ball launchers, marble madness, and more. As always, we had a great day!

5th Graders
Today we learned about platonic shapes and decorated the room using the designs we placed together. We completed our coding for the end of the the semester and our Watch Dog Dad read a chapter of the Giver to us. Since the lesson today was based on color, or the lack of it, we painted a monochromatic picture.
