Oobleck, Brains, Eyes, Equality......

2nd Graders
The students spent the beginning of class trying to prove .......
Which shape is more stable, a triangle or a square?

They tested the stability of a triangle and a square by standing them on a table and pressing on them.

Of course, this class wanted to take it a step further and connect all their shapes. Below is the awesome structure they made together by synergizing.
Making Oobleck- a suspension of cornstarch and water that can behave like a solid or a liquid depending on how much pressure you apply. Students learned the word VISCOSITY while participating  in this science lesson today.

This week in G.T. was loaded with fun. First, we had to answer the question what do you get more out of -a question or -an answer. Then we went to the computer lab and took a survey, and also learned about different perspectives. After that, we went back to class and took a quiz on Kahoot (a website that lets you make quizzes and share them).Later, we read the Giver, but Mrs.Horan left us on a cliff hanger! Next we read a story called Thank you Ma'm, which followed with a writing activity. Then,we worked on our inventions, today was the last day to change our mind. Finally,we  gave each other jobs or "assignments"(as they say in The Giver). I can't wait for next week!
