3rd GRADERS
Today we learned more about neurons, dendrites, synopses, and cell bodies.
"In GT class we started the day with some
algebra after that we read a few pages of The Phantom Tollbooth the we went to
the computer lab and practiced Scratch for about an hour, when we got back to
the class we made neurons out of candy, the nucleus was a tic tack, the nucleus
makes the electric signal so the axon (we used gummy worms for those)can send
them,we used mini recess peanut butter cups for the cell body which processes
the electric signals sent by other neurons, and finally dendrites branch out
from the cell body to receive electric signals sent by other cell's axons (we
used tooth picks for those). When we were done we walked around the room with a colored marker answer questions on a sheet of paper. They were things that we were thankful for like: what are you thankful for that is green? What is a teacher thankful for? Then after that we finished the chapter of The
Phantom Tollbooth that we had started earlier that day and left."
What do you think your teacher is thankful for? "COFFEE", I love that response!
