Mandalas, Field Trip to Panther Springs,  & Pandora's Box
5th Graders
Today the 5th graders  took a stroll in the park behind the school. A  few  weeks  prior to the event the students  decided what they wanted to do while dressed as philosophers strolling the park, and reciting a poem was one of the activities they chose.   So, with grapes, cheese and crackers in hand we headed out for what would be such a fun day. The weather was perfect and the kids were beyond excited.  "I have to feel the place out before I decide where I want to recite my poem" was one student's suggestion. And so, that's what we did for the 3 mile hike.  We stopped for quite a while at some benches and learned the story of Pandora's Box, and before you knew it, they were reenacting the story while a narrator retold the tale.
When we returned they completed their mandalas, just in time for Mother's Day.
