Robot Turtles,Fibonacci, Palindromes, and
Shakespearean Phrases

1st graders playing Robot Turtles, a game that helps them learn about programming.

3rd graders learned the Fibonacci code and spent time looking at a pine cone to find number patterns.

Royce adding to the list of palindrome words.

Our Binary Pictures

4th graders made an interesting poster of Shakespearean
phrases, some of which they had never heard of before today's class.

We now know that Shakespeare made up many of the words we commonly use today. Here are some of the student's own work of words they devised.

Typewriter,

I tried to show as many classes as I could the link below.

AMAZING AND INCREDIBLE!  CAN YOU FATHOM THE  TIME AND ENDURANCE TO ACCOMPLISH JUST ONE WORK OF ART WITH HIS DISABILITY LET ALONE THE REMARKABLE COMPLETED RESULT?
Robotic Friends, Pomander Balls, Snowflake Inspection

3rd grade students moving cups by way of programming symbols.

Students are creating a No Magnet Motor using a 1.5 battery, copper wire, 2 safety pins, rubber bands and a sewing machine bobbin.

Duplicating a pomander ball that was used during the Shakespearean times to ward off evil smells, students poked an orange with gloves then  added cinnamon, all-spice and pumpkin spice. The room smells heavenly!

M&M challenge. Students read in a book that you could tell the difference between the flavors of different colored M&M's. So, to test their theory we developed our own experiment...... Consensus, you can't!

Robot Turtles, Snowflakes, No Magnet Motor, M&M's,
Second graders went into great detail about how a snowflake is made. When finished, they made a graph indicating where the snowflake would be placed on the X and Y coordinates. With a little bit of Borax, hot water and pipe cleaners, the students were successful in making beautiful crystals.

Third graders spent a good portion of their day experimenting how to make a motor withot using magnets. Check out the link below for details.

Happy New Year!
We started out the new year with a blast.

First graders learned the word "attributes" and spent the class time defining the term, identifying different ways to break items into groups and working with the iPad app- 30 Hands.

Madilyn and Ariana using a Venn diagram to demonstrate the attributes that they share and the ones that they do not share.

Colin, Arriana and Cooper hard at work.

Dane using the 30 Hands app that takes pictures and then records your voice.

Second Graders are learning about Word Chains, what comes next in a series, and analogies. It has been challenging for some, but they seems to catch on quickly. We completed our tunnel lesson by decorating our groundhogs and forming tunnels for them to live in. It was truly a test of team work, for each group had to make their tunnels meet in the center of the paper.

3rd Graders  spent the day working on Pentoninos, learning the binary system and trying to figure out how to make the program Makey Makey work.

4th graders also tried their hand in Makey Makey.

60's DAY
The day began with researching on our Chrome Books the important events that happened during the 60's movement Discussions arose as to what the students felt were the pivotal events that accord during that era, from Kennedy, Martin Luther King, Woodstock, Neil Armstrong, riots,Andy Warhol, and even the Howdy Doody Show. We played several Beetles songs and concentrated on the lyrics to "Let It Be" First Mrs. Horan played the song without us knowing any prior history about it and we then wrote down what we thought the song was about. She then told us how Paul McCartney wrote that song about his mom. We replayed the song and it had a different meaning to us the 2nd time. It made us sad.
The students took pictures of themselves and used the BIG HUB LABS to make these pictures, duplicating  the artist style of 60's artist, Andy Warhol.

AND YET AGAIN, ANOTHER GRADE TRYING TO GET MAKEY MAKEY TO WORK!!!!
Rashan, Blake, Aiden, Sebastan, Kaitlyn and Karson working together to figure it out.
